SFPCF June 2026 Update

Celebrating Community & Police Officers Who Serve San Francisco

I want to tell you about a San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) officer who spent 2.5 years on modified duty. She’d been through five physical therapists and two physicians. She was close to the end of the road. Medical retirement was being processed. And then, eighteen sessions later, she was cleared for full patrol.

Her story is not unique. Since January 2025, two Human Performance specialists have been embedded in the department, going where the officers are: roll calls, midnight shifts, the Academy, and one-on-one sessions across the city.

The results are specific, documented, and extraordinary.

  • A surgical recovery was completed in 10 weeks, which should have taken up to a year.
  • A chronic injury that three orthopedic doctors couldn’t crack, resolved in 10 sessions.
  • Over 9,000 officer touchpoints in just over a year.
  • 9.9 out of 10 said they’d recommend it to a colleague.
  • One 16-year veteran called it the best program SFPD has ever implemented.

The program runs out of funding in July.

We’re not asking donors to take a chance on something untested. We’re asking you to help us protect something that’s working, something that officers are actively asking to keep.

If you’re ready to act, please donate today!

With gratitude,

Ixchel Acosta
Executive Director, San Francisco Police Community Foundation
