SFPCF Joins Jewish American Heritage Month Celebration Honoring Bay Area’s Top Jewish Chefs

Recently, some of the Bay Area’s most celebrated Jewish chefs and culinary leaders gathered at YES TO SF in the Mills Building in downtown San Francisco for the launch of San Francisco Jewish Week. The San Francisco Police Community Foundation was proud to support the evening.

The event, hosted by Adam Swig and presented by Value Culture, honored seven chefs and restaurateurs with civic commendations recognizing their cultural and community contributions. Community leaders included the California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, San Francisco Sheriff Paul Miyamoto, Supervisor Rafael Mandelman, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, Mayor Daniel Lurie, and San Francisco Police Department Commanders Thomas Maguire and Eric Kim.

The honorees:

  • Emily Winston, Boichik Bagels
  • David Nayfeld, Che Fico
  • Evan Bloom, Wise Sons Delicatessen
  • Tal Mor, Loquat
  • Adam Rosenblum, Super Mensch
  • Igor Teplitsky, Iggy’s Place
  • Craig and Annie Stoll, Delfina

The evening included a chef panel, networking with community leaders, bites from Boichik Bagels, beverages from Yerdrink, and wines from Hadju Winery. San Francisco Jewish Week runs May 9 through 16, 2026, with a lineup of events designed to celebrate Jewish culture while welcoming the full breadth of San Francisco’s communities.

“May is Jewish American Heritage Month, and San Francisco Jewish Week celebrates this by bringing people together through culture, conversation, and community,” said Adam Swig, Founder and Executive Director of Value Culture. “We’re grateful to the San Francisco Police Department for showing up not just in support of public safety, but in support of unity, inclusion, and the many communities that make San Francisco special. Having Chief Derek Lew recognize these chefs and leaders sends a powerful message about the importance of celebrating culture and building bridges across our city.”

Ixchel Acosta, Executive Director of the San Francisco Police Community Foundation, reflected on what the evening represented: “This is exactly what we mean when we talk about community. Seven chefs who have shaped the way this city eats, thinks, and gathers are being recognized by city leadership in a room full of neighbors who showed up to celebrate them. Commander Maguire and Kim reflected that SFPD belongs in these spaces, alongside the people and cultures that make San Francisco worth protecting. Evenings like this remind me why this work matters.”
