Real Time Investigations Center
Under the leadership of SFPCF Founder Chris Larsen, the Foundation is proud to support the recently revived Real‑Time Investigations Center (RTIC). In collaboration with the SFPD, we committed $7.25 million to retrofit and relocate the RTIC to a modern facility at 315 Montgomery Street, adding to Larsen’s initial $2.15 million in lease funding and creating a cutting-edge hub for real-time crime response. This investment ensures officers have reliable, uninterrupted support, replacing outdated infrastructure in the Hall of Justice and reinforcing the city’s commitment to proactive public safety.
Empowering Safer Communities
Since launching the RTIC, the SFPD has used its resources to assist in over 500 arrests and achieve significant reductions in specific crime categories, such as a 40 percent drop in auto theft and a 28 percent decline in overall crime in 2024, with a further 30 percent improvement into 2025. These data‑driven achievements reaffirm our belief that smart, targeted support can drastically improve neighborhood safety and quality of life.
A Force Multiplier for Every Officer
By integrating technologies—drones, automated license‑plate readers, mobile cameras, real‑time video walls, fiber‑optic connections—the RTIC has become a force multiplier. Its ability to support crime in progress, deter pursuits via remote surveillance, locate missing persons swiftly, and assist in crisis interventions (such as the Tenderloin rescue) has transformed how officers engage with and protect our vibrant communities. As Marisa Rodriguez, CEO of the Union Square Alliance and a member of the SFPCF Board of Directors, put it:
“Public safety is the foundation of a vibrant city. Whether you’re a small business owner, a hotel operator, or someone just coming downtown to shop or dine, everyone benefits when our police officers have the tools and resources they need to do their jobs effectively. It’s essential that we continue to invest in the people and technology that help keep our neighborhoods safe and welcoming.”
We invite community partners and civic-minded donors to join us: by investing in real‑time public safety infrastructure, we’re safeguarding every neighborhood and fostering trust between San Franciscans and those sworn to serve them. Donate Today!
